Band Class Information
- Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, and Percussion Techniques classes meet daily
- Students earn one academic elective credit for successful completion of the course each year
- After school rehearsals are scheduled one afternoon each week, all year. See below:
- Marching Band:
- Thursdays
- 4:15pm – 6:15pm until end of marching band season
- Symphonic Band/Percussion Tech:
- Wednesday
- 4:15pm – 5:30pm starting November 1
- Concert Band:
- Thursday
- 4:15pm – 5:30pm starting November 2
- Jazz Ensemble:
- As required, prior to festival or concert performances
- Notice will be provided
- Marching Band:
- The rehearsal schedule above may be modified (with notice) to accommodate the school calendar, holidays, other band activities/performances, etc.
Important Performance Information
- The Marching Colonels perform for all home football games and a limited number of community and school-related events.
- Both Symphonic Bands (including Percussion Tech students) perform concerts in October, November, December, March, and May, and perform for evaluation at KMEA Performance Assessment events (March and May).
- The Jazz Ensemble performs regularly during the school day during lunch (lobby concerts), Jazz Cafe concerts in November and May, and selected Jazz Festivals including the KMEA State Jazz Performance Assessment.
Course Grade Information
- All scheduled rehearsals and performances are graded, required activities.
