FORMAL WEAR
Formal wear orders have been placed for those who are new to the band. Please send in $17 (boys) for tuxedo shirts, or $65 (girls) for concert gowns no later than Fri Sept 13th. Checks need to be payable to OCHS band boosters. I place an order for each new student to the band automatically, based on measurements I have already taken.
Girls will need to wear black flats to concerts along with their gown. *you are responsible for getting the gown hemmed. You can hem it yourself if you have that talent, or, many band students have had them hemmed at US Tailor, 9428 Brownsboro Road, Louisville KY 40241, 502-425-4450. MUM PICKUP
Don’t forget MUM Pick up is Thursday, September 12th after band rehearsal. Pick will be in the back bus lot next to the Gymnasium.
SNAPRAISE
SnapRaise “homework went out on August 29th. The homework consists of compiling a list of 20 (or more) email addresses of potential supporters of the band program (relatives, family friends, etc). These email addresses were entered into individual student “accounts” they set up on September 5th during their band classes using their personal devices (tablets or phones). The project is most effective if EVERYONE in the program does the “homework”, as our percentage increases with the level of participation. SightReadingFactory
The first assignments in SightReadingFactory have been sent to each class, and a Remind 101 message went out this morning alerting everyone. The instructions have also been posted to Google Classroom.
There are six brief sight reading excerpts in this assignment; all must be completed by September 27 to earn credit.
A metronome click will accompany your efforts. You will be allowed multiple attempts, but if you do, you will see DIFFERENT music on each try!
You will need to choose your instrument before beginning. You will have 30 seconds to study, then the metronome will "count you in". I have selected the level, meter, tempo (84 bpm) and potential major or minor key for you.
