Weekly Band News: September 22 – September 28

Underclassmen parents if you are or have ever been interested in volunteering in a position but just not quite sure what it’s about, this is the game to come see.. Some of our wonderful booster members who help make band performances flawless will be down on the track walking with their seniors.  This is where we need you:
1. NEW:   Help with uniforms (plumes in hats, uniform malfunctions, items they may need, getting    racks out.
2. Getting water bottles ready and iced and brought over to stadium.  Make sure to bring extra water with you.
3. NEW: Gate keepers. Stopping traffic and opening up the gate to let the band in and moving barriers around track and moving the back. Closing gate.
4. Photographers on the track taking photos of seniors and their families.  Please post them on FB page.
5. Monitors during halftime and 3rd quarter of band section.
6. Handing out water.  If you are going to help, please make sure to add yourself to the signup genius.

Senior Photo
Seniors who were absent last Thursday and did not get their photo taken will need to meet this Thursday before rehearsal in the hallway outside of the band room with your Uniform Jacket.  Mrs. Beville will be there to take the photos.
All State Jazz Ensemble
If you are interested in auditioning for a position in the 2020 Kentucky All State Jazz Ensemble, please download and read the attached information.
The audition etude playalong tracks are posted at www.eboard.com (rogersbrad) and were sent to you via Google Classroom–provided you have enrolled in the class!  We will go over and begin the preparation process during our 4th period rehearsals.
NOTE: auditioning for all state jazz ensemble will not preclude you from auditioning for a recommendation to try out for the other All State ensembles, or All District Band.  However, if you are selected for all state Jazz, you will not be able to audition for one of the regular All State bands or the orchestra.
National High School Honor Band
The John Philip Sousa Foundation offers a National High School Honor Band clinic every two years; the next opportunity is June 24-27, 2020.
The event will be held in Massachusetts, with rehearsals at The Bromfield School in Harvard, MA and the concert at historic Mechanics Hall in Worcester, MA.  The band will be conducted by Michael J. Colburn (currently director fo the Wind Ensemble at Butler University, Indianapolis, IN, and former conductor of the United States Marine Band in Washington, DC).
Auditions for the Honors Band are due no later than January 1, 2020; early is better.  Audition materials and information can be found at www.sousafoundation.net (look in the menu on the left for National HS Honors Band).
We certainly have players in our group that would be capable of performing in this ensemble!  All are encouraged to check it out!
