Gift Card Donations

In the past we have provided meals for the 12 section leaders each day during band camp. This year, because of COVID we are unable to provide this service.  As an alternative we are asking for $10 Gift card donations to area restaurants to show our appreciation for their time and the expertise these instructors give our students each day at camp.  If you would be willing to help out in this way, please use the Signup Genius Link. Once you sign up, (or if preferred, send $10 and we will purchase the cards) please bring your donation to band camp on Monday (if possible) in a marked envelope Gift Card Donation/Section Leaders and give it to Mr. Rogers.  This will allow us to inventory the cards and make sure we have what is needed.  If you have any questions please email Nicole Tschappat at nicole.[email protected] or Tammy Passafiume at [email protected].

Marching and Concert Shoes (“DINKLES")

All freshmen, students new to OCHS band, and any students who have outgrown their Dinkle shoes from last year will need to bring $31 cash or check payable to "RRR Band Accessories” by Thursday (July 30th) of Band Camp. A $15 shipping fee will be added to any orders taken after Thursday. If a freshman is wearing a sibling’s shoes from a previous year, please notify Charlie Christensen at [email protected]. Shoes will be fitted during Band Camp week. If payment for shoes is not received by Thursday morning of band camp week, the extra $15 fee will be automatically applied.

Marching Uniforms and Concert Attire

We are asking parents to do something we’ve never asked of you before. Due to social distancing
limitations, we are unable to physically measure your student during band camp week as has historically
been done. We are asking for your help and best effort to provide us with as accurate (as possible)
measurements so that we can fit your student with a band uniform – marching and concert. We will need
up-to-date measurement for ALL STUDENTS to insure they have the appropriate sizing. Directions for
how to obtain these measurements are included in e-mail attachments. Measurements for women and
men are DIFFERENT, so please use the proper form. Please send a scanned copy of the completed
form or directly e-mail all measurements for your student to Charlie Christensen at [email protected]
by Friday, August 14. Pricing for concert attire (full length gowns for women, tuxedo shirts for men) will
be sent at a later date.

Measuring Information sent in previous email on 7/26 can be found by clicking here.

The marching band will meet Monday and Thursday evenings during July and August.  Rehearsal Dates at this time are scheduled for Brass Days, August 3, .  Woodwind and Percussion Days July 23 and August 6.  We hope to rehearse as a FULL BAND on August 10th as well as Mondays and Thursdays up until school begins.  Details for how rehearsals will take place can be found by clicking this link, or by looking on Google Classroom .  Rehearsals will be 6:00 – 8:30 pm and are held at OCHS.  Attendance is expected at summer band rehearsal if you are in town.  If you’re on vacation or out of town for any of these dates, please notify Mr. Rogers at [email protected].

For Rehearsals Students will need to bring:

  • Face Mask, to be properly worn at all times on campus.
  • Each Student will need to bring their own wire music stand with their name on the stand. If you do not have a stand, you can obtain a stand/carry bag from the band program at the first rehearsal for $8.00.
  • Flip Folio, These can also be purchased through the band program at the first rehearsal for $8.00.

These bottles will be used if a student forgets their water bottle or needs additional water during rehearsal. This water supply is also used for the band members during football games. Other items needed include disinfecting wipes, and hand sanitizer. Thank you in advance!

Marching Band Camp will be July 27-31

Please click here for the final Band Camp Game Plan for the most up to date information sent July 26th. This information will also be posted to the band website and Google Classroom.

Regardless of what we end up being allowed to do from a marching band perspective, we will still have a band camp! Band camp has always been very important; this year, we have to begin addressing the nearly three months of instruction, performances, and growth we missed since this crazy situation began. The schedule for the week may be adjusted to make our group size, social distancing, and contacts easier to manage. It will still involve a morning and evening rehearsal session as originally planned, but possibly only ONE session for each student each day (either morning or evening).

Attendance is mandatory for all band students.  Band Camp information can be found on the OCHS Band website at by clicking here or on Google Classroom. This is the most current information but with so much uncertainty, could be subject to change based on updated instruction from OCHS or OCBE.

Spirit Wear/Show Shirts

A few parents have asked about additional shirts for themselves or other family members.  We have worked with the shirt vendor to set up an online store where you can make these orders.  If your student is in the 2020/2021 OCHS Band—ONE short sleeved shirt for your student is INCLUDED in Band Fees for the year.  Please note that you would only order for them if you want extras or additional products.

Orders that were placed by Friday, July 17th will be delivered on July 24th. Orders placed after Friday, July 17th will be delivered late August.  A portion of the proceeds for these sales will be donated back to the band.

Click here to see and order the OCHS Band Spirit Wear. There are lots of sizes and styles. They do have extended sizes.
