Weekly Band News: January 5 – January 11

All 5th District Band January 10th and 11th, 2020 Martha Layne Collins High School

Congratulations on your successful audition for the All-5th District Bands! We are looking forward to an outstanding weekend of music making and activities culminating in a wonderful concert performance.

Thanks to all for taking care of your folder fees prior to the holidays! Your folder fee covers music expenses and clinician costs. Transportation to and from Shelby County will be provided on Friday; transportation will be provided on Saturday morning ONLY. All participants must arrange for your transportation home after the concert on Saturday evening; the equipment truck will remain until the end of the high school concert for LARGE EQUIPMENT transport. IF your horn can go with you in your car after the concert, it should happen that way!

Lunch on Friday and Saturday will be Chick-Fil Sandwiches, chips and a drink, Cost is $4.00 per sandwich. Limit 2 sandwiches per student per meal. Money is due Wednesday, January 8th. Please place money in the bandroom dropbox with your students name and number of sandwiches per meal listed on the envelope. Checks can be made out to OCHS Band Boosters. Pizza will be provided for dinner by the band boosters on Saturday evening and will be made available to all OCHS participants— All meals will be delivered to Martha Layne Collins High School. If you have a food allergy or cannot eat Chick-fil-A or pizza, please plan on bringing your own meal.

Friday, January 10th

8:00 am Arrive at OCHS BAND ROOM-put equipment on the truck 8:15 am Load buses (all OCMS students on Bus 2); WE WILL BE TIGHT ON SPACE… 8:20 am Leave for Martha Layne Collins High School 9:10 am Arrive MLCHS; unload. Report QUICKLY to rehearsal areas 9:30 am Rehearsal NOON Lunch (fast food brought to the school) 1:30 pm Rehearsal 5:00 pm Rehearsals end 5:15 pm Leave for home 6:00 pm Home Sweet Buckner Saturday, January 11th ALL will need to bring your concert attire with you (or wear it all day)!!!! We will not be returning to Oldham County before the concert. Our buses will leave after transporting us to Martha Layne Collins on Saturday morning, so don’t leave anything on the bus!

ALSO: rehearsals start EARLIER on Saturday—don’t be LATE for the bus!!

YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN TRANSPORTATION HOME AFTER THE CONCERT. THERE WILL BE NO BUS TRANSPORTATION AVAILABLE AFTER LUNCH ON SATURDAY.
